"A tale of two cities" is one of Dickens's most important representative works.The novel profoundly exposed the society contradiction before the French Revolution,intensely attacks the aristocratic social clais dissolute and cruel,and sincerely sympathizes with the depressed classes.The novel also described many magnificent scenes like the revolt people attacked Bastille and so on,which displayed people's great strength.

The novel has portrayed many different people. Doctor Manette is honest and kind but suffers the persecution actually , Lucie is beautiful and gentle ,Charles is graceful and noble,Lorry is upright and honest ,Sydney is semblance of indifferent, innermost feelings of warm,unconventional but also selfleand lofty,MiProis straightforward and loyal,Evremonde brothers are cruel and sinister……The complex hatred is hard to solve, the cruel revenge has made more hatreds, loves rebirth in the hell edge,but take the life as the price.

As an outstanding writer,in Dickens's work,the language skill is essential.Each kind of rhetoric technique,like the analogy,the exaggeration,the contrast,the humorous,and the taunt are handled skillfully,and the artistry of the work is also delivered the peak."A tale of two cities" has its difference with the general historical novel, its character and the main plot are all fictionalizes.With the broad real background of the French Revolution,the author take the fictional character Doctor Manette's experience as the main clue,interweaves the unjust charge, love and revenge three independences but also incident cross-correlation stories together,the plot is criss-crossed,and the clue is complex.The author use insert narrates,foreshadowing,upholstery and so many techniques,causes the structure integrity and strictness,the plot winding anxious and rich of theatrical nature,it displayed the remarkable artistic skill.the style "A tale of two cities" is solemnity and melancholy,fills indignantion,but lacks the humor of the early works.

“Jane?Eyre”, written by Charlotte Bronte, is a novel which is well-known in the world. As soon as it published, almost each reader was greatly moved at once. It still touches everyone now. I believe its distinctive enchantment will exist forever. Now, let’s revive this classical work.

Jane Eyre, the main character, is an orphan who is passed into the care of Mrs. Reed, the wife of her mother’s brother. After years of neglect and abuse, she is sent to a boarding school Lowood at a tender age of ten, where she received good education under severe conditions. After her graduation, she gets a position as a governess at Thornfield Hall where she falls in love with her employer, Mr. Edward Rochester. At their wedding ceremony, Jane gets to know that Rochester has a wife, a raving maniac locked in the house. In shock and grief, Jane leaves Thornfield quietly. Penniless and starving, she is saved and befriended by St.John Rivers and his two sisters, who turn out to be her cousins. St.John admires Jane and asks her to be his wife and assistant in his religious service. Feeling that she still cherishes a deep love for Rochester, who seems calling her in her dream, Jane refuses his proposal and returns to Thornfield, only to find it a blackened ruin. Mr. Rochester is blinded and lost a hand when he tries to rescue his mad wife, who sets the house on fair. Jane goes to him at once and there they get married. Two years later, Rochester’s sight begins to return in one eye, and he sees their first child in person.

That’s the outline of this story. In order to learn about the novel extremely, we need to know the background of the author. Charlotte Bronte, the author, was an outstanding novelist in the 19th century in Britain. Her father was a vicar, her mother came from a rich family, and she had four sisters, two young and two old, and a brother. Her mother and two elder sisters died early, her father asked her aunt to take care of them four. Although they lived hard, they could hear many ancient legend and mysterious stories, they also had a walk around nearly valley usually. Neither hard nor lack of mother’s love life but colorful social and nature, gave them endless inspiration and cultivated their strong and self-sufficient character. Charlotte once studied away from home twice even became a governess, which was not sad that threw into writing with her full feelings. Then she finished this work, Jane Eyre. It is not only her representative work, but also her autobiographic novel, because Jane Eyre’s lifetime is as well as her own. Charlotte chooses the first person to recount Jane’s lifetime. We have to be attracted in the main character’s emotional world .Unfortunately , Charlotte died in 1865,only 38 years, after her sister and brother’s death. Although she had ended her transient and solitary lifetime, her work “Jane Eyre” remained to influence thousands of readers.
